What is peptide reconstitution?
Reconstitution is the process of dissolving a lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptide powder with bacteriostatic water (BAC water) to create an injectable solution. The amount of BAC water you add determines the concentration of your solution and therefore the volume you need to draw for each dose.
What is bacteriostatic water (BAC water)?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which prevents bacterial growth. It is the recommended diluent for peptide reconstitution as it keeps your solution stable for up to 28 days when refrigerated. Never use tap water or plain saline.
How much BAC water should I add to my peptide vial?
This depends on your desired dose and syringe size. Use the calculator above — enter your vial quantity, the amount of BAC water you plan to add, and your desired dose. The calculator will tell you exactly what unit mark to pull your syringe to.
What does IU mean on a syringe?
IU stands for International Units and is the measurement scale printed on insulin syringes. On a standard 1ml insulin syringe, 100 IU = 1ml. If the calculator says pull to 20 IU, that means draw to the 20 mark on your syringe — which equals 0.2ml of solution.
What needle should I use for peptide injections?
There are two steps — reconstitution and injection — and each uses a different gauge. Use a 23 gauge needle to draw up the bacteriostatic water and reconstitute your peptide (the larger gauge makes it easier to transfer liquid without damaging the rubber stopper). Then switch to a 27–29 gauge needle for the actual injection — finer, less discomfort, ideal for subcutaneous (under skin) injections at 45°. ACE Peptides ships both gauges with every order. You will also need 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes — use one to swab the rubber stopper on both your peptide vial and BAC water vial before every puncture, and a fresh one to clean the injection site before each dose. This is non-negotiable for sterile technique. Rotate injection sites between the abdomen, thigh, and upper arm to avoid tissue buildup.
How do I store reconstituted peptides?
Once reconstituted, store your peptide vial in the refrigerator at +4°C for up to 28 days. For longer storage, freeze at −20°C in individual aliquots and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Keep away from light at all times.
Can I use this calculator on my phone?
Yes — this calculator is fully mobile optimised and can be installed directly to your phone home screen as an app. On iPhone, tap Share then "Add to Home Screen". On Android, tap the browser menu and select "Add to Home Screen". It works offline once installed.
